Mary Poppins Leads, Ensemble, and Extra Dancers

We are looking for lead dancers, Mary Poppins Ensemble, and dancers who want to be involved in the finale group dance for our Mary Poppins production on Sunday, May 17th. Dancers must be able to commit to all scheduled rehearsals (minimal absences due to previously scheduled vacations and important life events such as Prom will be excused but we please ask that you notify us about them as soon as you find out). The first rehearsal is mandatory since this is when we will set the choreography. For more details about each role, please scroll down. Please let us know what roles you are interested in being considered for by filling out the form at the bottom of the page before auditions start on Friday, Jan. 16th.

Cost to participate
There is a one-time charge of $65 due at the time of registration to cover rehearsal fees. Dancers will not be charged for costumes. Those in the finale dance will supply their own costumes (they will be basic pieces, and we will provide more info in this later). Lead costumes will be supplied by DCA and Mary Poppins Ensemble costumes will be supplied by the dancers (they will be basic pieces, and we will provide more info on this later)

How casting is decided
Many things are considered as we carefully determine casting. We will cast leads based on the audition, dancer age, height, experience level, general availability, how the cast fits together, and the interest level ranked on the interest form. Please note that rehearsals for the leads and the Mary Poppins Ensemble will be combined.

Purpose: Rehearsals are run in order, so everyone sees how the story fits together.

Engagement: You will not be moving or dancing the entire time, but it is essential to stay focused, attentive, and engaged.

Story Awareness: Listen carefully so you understand the flow of the story and how your character fits into the big picture.

Preparation: Be ready to step in when your part comes up – knowing your cues is just as important as performing them.

Teamwork: There is a lot to coordinate, and success depends on everyone working together with professionalism and commitment.
